THE GREAT TRIBAL WARRIORS OF BHARAT THE GREAT TRIBAL WARRIORS OF BHARAT

THE GREAT TRIBAL WARRIORS OF BHARAT

‘In this, our 75th year of Independence … we needed quality literature around our great tribal freedom fighters. This book is a truly commendable start in that direction.
Arjun Munda, Minister of Tribal Affairs

Our first war of Independence was not in 1857.

In fact, tribal mutinies against the British began at least 75 years before the 1857 revolution. These battles were fought with traditional bows and arrows and spears, and predated the reported political movement that came to the fore in the latter part of the nineteenth century.

As we complete 75 years of Independence, it is only fair to acknowledge that a parallel freedom movement had existed in our far-flung villages and jungles, away from the mainstream freedom movement acknowledged in the books of history.

The Great Tribal Warriors of Bharat is a humble attempt to honour these largely unsung heroes of an epochal movement, whose contribution remains largely unacknowledged. The book begins with Tilka Manjhi, who unleashed guerilla warfare to combat the British, and includes Jaipal Singh Munda, one of the most nuanced speakers of our Constituent Assembly, tracking the trajectory of this movement. These brave warriors came from all parts of India, including the Northeast and the South, and from all tribes existing in the country.

This book is a rare collection and a journey into self-discovery for our civilization turned nation.

Women Warriors in Indian History

Women Warriors in Indian History

Women Warriors in Indian History explores the life of ten Indian women warriors as narrated by other historical characters. While Italian traveller Marco Polo recounts the story of his contemporary Queen Rudramba, Emperor Jahangir narrates the tale of Durgavati to his future consort. Legendary Tatya Tope unfolds Avantibai’s heroics to Lakshmi Bai and the eunuch General Malik Kafur regales a young sultan with Raziya Sultana’s exploits. Put together chronologically, from the slave dynasty to the first war of Indian independence, these stories showcase the changing canvas of Indian history. More importantly, the narratives bring forward the exceptional qualities of these women warriors, while fighting against gender, social, religious and political odds and oppositions. They prove that women are unequivocally strong leaders who have waged and won many battles with courage and conviction down the ages.Br>Well-researched and engagingly narrated, this book familiarizes readers with these extraordinary women, their highs and lows and provides a glimpse into their unique, yet relatively less known lives.

The Elemental Warriors The Elemental Warriors

The Elemental Warriors

Even with all the warnings about global climate change, people tend to forget about certain fundamental actions of theirs that could make a difference: such as brushing their teeth with the tap off, recycling their tetra pack of juice, unnecessarily using private transportation for short distances and leaving lights blazing unnecessarily. They forget that running water is precious water being wasted, recycling is necessary, leaving lights on is a waste of energy and petrol is not endless. They forget that tomorrow is another day, another time and that earth is a living, breathing entity. This is not yet another wake-up-call-to-climate change book, nor does it list out sordid details about the irreparable effects of global warming. The author has conducted intensive research and devised a systematic plan that can be implemented by people like you and me.The Element Warriors: Air, Water, Fire and Earth is a handy guide to helping readers contributing what they can to keeping the earth clean, green and safe.
